Following the urban design competition, in consultation with the Berlin Senate, internationally renowned firms of architect were invited to participate in the competition for the realization of the project. In addition to the winner of the competition – the planning partnership of Renzo Piano and Christoph Kohlbecker – other participants in the competition were commissioned to design buildings for the Potsdamer Platz area.
