During the construction of the entire project, the foundations, construction and interior fitting-out of all the buildings had to be carefully coordinated.
The extensive foundation work and the tunnels crossing under the area made it difficult to plan the construction process without different types of work interfering with each other. This high degree of complexity of simultaneous construction all over the area meant that everyone involved had to be extremely accurate in the planning and execution of each individual stage of construction.
Although the construction site was very large, there was little room between the buildings for storing construction materials such as stones, steel, facade elements etc. before they were actually required. All deliveries therefore came by rail to the logistics center and were distributed from there over the entire site on a just-in-time basis, that is, exactly when needed for use. In this way, over a construction period of five years, 1.4 million tons of concrete and nearly half a million tons of steel were used. At peak times, 6,500 construction workers and specialists were at work at the same time.
