Underground supplies andwaste disposal

Deliveries to the buildings in the Potsdamer Platz district arrive underground in order to keep the streets free of delivery vehicles.

Vans and trucks drive into the central supply area on the fourth under-ground level below Marlene-Dietrich-Platz via the entry to the B96 road tunnel. The supply center covers a space of 4500 square meters and has 15 ramp spaces for delivery trucks. Up to 260 vehicles can be loaded and unloaded here each day. The goods are taken to the various buildings underground using electric vehicles or lift trucks. Waste is also disposed of through the supply center, after being separated into 13 different types of waste. In addition to the usual separation of glass, paper and packaging, there is also separate disposal of treated and untreated wood, plastic film, waste food, cooking oil and polystyrene. Waste is checked on pickup, so that only fully sorted materials leave the area. The net quantities and types of waste and the customers’ numbers are recorded, and all users pay for their own waste.
