Even in a busy office environment, you can feel the transformative power of yoga through simple exercises. Angelique, a yoga instructor at Potsdamer Platz, recommends three small exercises you can fit in during your workday:
1. Neck and Shoulder Stretch Sit up straight. With the opposite hand, gently guide your head to the side so your ear moves toward your shoulder. Let the other arm hang loosely— the lower it drops, the deeper the stretch. Hold for 20–30 seconds while breathing calmly.
2. Thoracic Spine Mobilization Interlace your hands behind your head and push your elbows outward. Inhale as you open your chest, then exhale as you round your back, bringing your chin to your chest and elbows forward. Repeat for several breaths to mobilize your thoracic spine and release tension.
3. Shoulder Opener at the Desk Place your hands on the desk and slide your chair back slightly so your upper body can sink downward. Keep your legs slightly apart to make room for your torso. To deepen the stretch, you can lift one hand and reach diagonally toward the opposite leg. Hold the position, breathe deeply, and feel the opening across your shoulders and back.
