The cup final only comes around once a year. This time, two true heavyweights face off at Berlin's Olympiastadion: FC Bayern Munich and VfB Stuttgart. The "Mia san" record champions against the dark horses from the south. Harry Kane vs. Denis Undav. Mitte vs. Prenzlauer Berg. Berlin, Berlin, are you heading to Berlin? Or are you already in the capital? We'll let you in on where to watch the game – plus a few more tips for a great day around Potsdamer Platz. From public viewing to meet & greet: here's how to turn this football holiday into an unforgettable experience, even without a ticket.
Public Viewing at Potsdamer Platz Manifesto Market at The Playce is the place where football fans come together to watch the match. Manifesto's wide range of restaurants serves up half-time snacks that put any stadium sausage to shame. And on the freshly opened summer terrace, you can work off any pre-match nerves with a round of table football.
You can also catch the DFB-Pokal final at Maredo or Posh Bar – perfect for those already feeling victorious who want to get to their celebratory champagne as quickly as possible.
Show Your Colours at Paulaner There's no doubt who the crowd's cheering for here. On cup final Saturday, the Paulaner Wirtshaus at Potsdamer Platz becomes the go-to spot for Munich expats and anyone else flying the FC Bayern flag. There's no official dress code, of course. But let's put it this way: showing up to public viewing without lederhosen or a red jersey? That takes guts…
Shop Jerseys and Meet Player Legends at the FC Bayern Pop-Up Store If you still need something to wear, The Playce has you covered. The FC Bayern Pop-Up Store is open there from Friday to Sunday. Across more than 1,000 square metres, you can pick up exclusive merch and meet bona fide superstars from the club's glorious history. On Friday, there's a meet & greet with autograph session featuring Brazilian striker legend Giovane Élber (who, fun fact, scored goals for both Bayern and Stuttgart during his career). On Saturday, fellow striker Roy Makaay and goalkeeping icon Raimond Aumann drop by. Bayern's stadium announcer Stephan Lehmann will be hosting. It doesn't get much more red-and-white than this. There's also music by DJ.Silence, plenty of games to join in on, a selfie box, and photo ops with Bayern mascot Bernie.
Gear Up at Intersport If all the action on the pitch inspires you to lace up your own boots, Intersport at The Playce has everything you need. Cleats, socks, jerseys, footballs – the lot. Practice makes perfect, as they say (or in this case: makes cup winners). And you've got to start somewhere.
Win 2 Tickets to the Final Tickets for the biggest match in German club football have, of course, been sold out for ages. On the resale market, they go for eye-watering prices – if you can find them at all. But: we've got something for you. At the FC Bayern Pop-Up Store in The Playce, one of the many giveaways is a chance to win two tickets to the final. All you have to do is take part in the Bavarian Olympics – think stein-holding, hammer-striking and beer-mat-catching. Show that you've got what it takes to be a true Pfundskerl or Pfundsmad'l (a real Bavarian tough guy or gal) – and secure your shot at being there live at the Olympiastadion. Just swing by the Pop-Up Store at The Playce on Friday, May 22nd or Saturday, and keep your fingers crossed for yourself.
Good luck – and either way, happy final weekend!
