50 artworks by more than 26 artists - the collection of the five-star Grand Hyatt Berlin hotel on Potsdamer Platz has grown continuously since it opened in 1998. Today, guests not only find a temporary home in the suites, which they share with selected works on the walls. The hotel takes visitors on a journey of discovery through styles and eras. Works by big names such as Sylvie Fleury and Imi Knoebel hang in the rooms, while sculptures by Dieter Roth and Günther Förg can be discovered in the corridors.
At the Grand Hyatt, art is not just wall decoration, but part of the overall experience: guests can already feel the passion and knowledge behind the collection in the lobby. Those checking in are greeted in the entrance area by Gerold Miller's blue frame. Instead of focusing on the content of the picture, the sculptor turns our viewing habits around and directs our eyes to the edges. The selection of works is curated by the hotel's interior designer and the Mercedes-Benz Art Collection team, who run their own exhibition space a few doors down.
